The Andersonstown Urban Village is the fourth of the 'Think Transfomation' concepts. The dominance of the motorcar together with the lack of enclosure created by buildings serve to dehumanise this hub. Correcting this is essential to repairing and reinvigorating the place.

The proposal comprises seed investments in public spaces and new buildings at three locations.

1. Casement Park.

2. The Leisure centre.

3. Busy Bee Site

These are linked via new and reinvigorated central and side pedestrianised areas. A new Casement Park Conference Centre along with Casement Square acts as a forecourt for Match Day and marks the start of the hub.

The road is divided by building a Central Pedestrian route which will be heavily tree landscaped.  It will contain 'pods' for coffee, newspapers and internet access as well as seating and public art-works. On the route adjacent to the New Public Square a raised building houses the Andersonstown Public Library at upper levels and the Transit Hub and outdoor markets at ground level. The central pedestrian area is populated by those using the library and accessing rapid transit. Its breadth and density of planting and landscaping divides vehicular traffic reducing the apparent crossing width and dominance of the road helping to humanize the place. South Link forms a Carparking area and new pedestrian route to the hub.

The Andersonstown Business Complex will provide employment opportunities on upper floors with office/shopping on the ground floor. Roof terraces provide restaurant space with views to the mountains and city centre.

Over time existing frontages will be redeveloped by new investment to an appropriate 5-6 storeys with new shops and apartments. These will humanise the space through completing the necessary enclosure and introducing residents to occupy the space at night.
