As a part of the 'Think Transforamtion' concepts Culturlann/St Marys to the Beechmount Media Centre Site define the
edges and act as the main regenerators of the neighbourhood centre most strongly associated with the Gaeltacht Quarter. It is a 450m stretch of road and neighbourhood hub (Dunville and the Rock streets are separate
places) where interventions can have a transformational impact.
Between these buildings investment opportunities exist for a general increase in heights of buildings onto the road
to bring them up to a minimum of 3 –4 storeys. An increase in the width of the footpath on the sunny north side of the road will increase the 'caf Culture' and shopping experience. General street landscape and
shopfront upgrade, particularly to this side is proposed. Other individual buildings present investment opportunities.
A rapid transit stop is essential at this hub while maintaing traffic flows and footpath widths. The use of Iveagh
Street / La Salle Drive should be considered for how it can contribute.
A neighbourhood requires public space. WIllowbank Park and adjacent lands, ownerships and frontages are be redesigned
to form and replace community, cultural, business and social facilities including outdoor performance space and a hotel. The rapid transit stops are at the front and back of this space further populating the
existing pedestrian route. This space could include an open air performance facility and would continue to act as the pedestrian link between Beechmount and the Park Centre as well as a location to gather on a sunny
day.
The pedestrian feeds to the hub should be recognised, and developed including the Hospital, Bealach na Fearsaide,
Giants Foot and Coliste Feirste.
